Callinan to Drill Coles Creek Copper Targets in June

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

VANCOUVER, B.C.--Callinan Mines Limited, in June of this year, is prepared to drill test a number of strongly mineralized areas on its promising Coles Creek copper-gold-silver-lead-zinc prospect.

An initial five hole drill program will test the depth of the mineralization on the 1,210-hectare property, which is located near Houston, B.C., in the same area as the Huckleberry Copper Mine, and the Equity Silver Mine.

Callinan President Mike Muzylowski explained that work on the Coles Creek property by a previous operator, coupled with Callinan's own findings last summer, "indicated several combinations of strong mineralization over a distance of more than 3 km. We will develop a better understanding of this porphyry system through our forthcoming diamond drilling and geophysical work. Our crews will be cutting a total 22 km of grid lines which will be surveyed by induced polarization geophysical equipment." The drilling program will be carried out by Cyr Drilling International, Ltd.

About 1.5 km southwest of the Callinan target area, a hole drilled by a previous operator intersected 10 ft. of 1.02% copper (A.R. 1073, Bell & Hallof, 1967). In August 2005, Callinan's initial prospecting program at Coles Creek located a sizeable outcropping of surface mineralization. Rock samples from this survey returned values grading from 0.25% to 2.62% copper, 0.040 to 3.05g/t gold, 33 g/t to 1181 g/t silver, 0.21% to 9.33% lead, 0.4% to 1.03% zinc and 0.051% to 0.403% molybdenum in altered and leached porphyritic granodiorite and quartz diorite.

Leached host rock indicates that the rock has undergone intense alteration and weathering, and could indicate that the mineralization continues to depth within the alteration zone.

All Callinan exploration programs are under the direction of Pat DeVeaux, Callinan's Chief Geologist, a qualified person as defined by national instrument 43-101. All samples were assayed at Acme Analytical Laboratories of Vancouver, BC.
